Originally from Upstate NY, Kristen graduated from Wheelock College in Boston with a Bachelor’s Degree as a Child Life Specialist. Kristen started working in Early Childhood Education in 1989 in Boston, MA. She has worked as a teacher for children of all ages and in many different types of programs in MA, NH, VT, TX and Colorado.
For the past 25 + years, Kristen has successfully kept the magic of childhood alive for young children by directing programs with an emphasis on quality of care. As an advanced trainer, education for both parents and teachers is a important part of the work that Kirsten does at Homestar to create a community of learners with a goal to enrich the lives of the children they touch.
Kristen lives outside of Boulder with her husband. They enjoy hiking, fishing and are excited about the new adventure they are starting together as the new owners of Homestar Children’s Center.
Assistant Director & Preschool Supervisor/Teacher
I am originally from a suburb of Chicago. Since 2012, I have called Boulder home. Colorado has infinite opportunities awaiting and I am so happy to be here! I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Naropa University. I hold a Director Qualification in Early Childhood. For over 10 years now, I have been working with children of all ages and abilities. I love working with children because of their authenticity, curiosity and ability to love, understand and create.
Early childhood education is my passion. I strongly believe if we provide young children the skills they need while meeting their needs, we will be setting these children up for happy, fulfilling and successful futures. While my role is to be their teacher, they teach me so much each day. Our classroom environment is founded on respect, love and safety. The children and I continually learn from one another and shape ourselves to be our best self in each unfolding moment. I feel so honored to hold such a special role in all these children’s and families’ lives. My philosophy of teaching encompasses play & nature with a positive focus in social and emotional development.
Over the years, I have been a swim instructor, ski instructor and nursery director. I am so grateful to be here & be a part of all of your lives. My other passions are community, music, dancing, gardening, spending as much time in nature as possible and having fun!
